It's very common to use a peeler to peel the skin, then keep peeling until you get to the seeds and just use those peeled strips.

They go completely dark at a very high altitude. I feel like a bright sunny day would give you a better chance of seeing a falling rock, at least once it gets closer to the ground

We are actually pretty good at predicting the long term for specific regions. This allows building codes to be based on the seismic activity of the region. Sadly this isn't something that's practical in many parts of the world

This is clearly the wrong way to think about it. Dates forward and backward from this flag date exist in both calendars and it's straightforward to convert between them. Such a flag day didn't involve removing days from one calend

This is an acceptable failure mode. I'd be nice if there was a standardized LED flash or color that you could get so if your relative said something isn't working, you could ask, "Is it flashing three times?" or whatever

I would argue for some form of head tracking to always display the appropriate frame. It would be nice if you could use hud display tech so it would automatically track, but I don't think it's possible in this form factor
