You can just add something like (\\!) in your PS1 and get just that. PS1="(\\!) \[\033[01;32m\]\u@\h\[\033[00m\]:\[\033[01;34m\]\w\[\033[00m\]\$ " as a full working example

IF the velocity would change from 0.7m/s to 0m/s over one second, the acceleration would be 0.7m/s/s. But if the time span over which that velocity change is (much) shorter, the acceleration would be (much) higher.

You don't need to identify the A320 from 15 pixels. Once you see a 15 pixel signature that changes between subsequent frames you point the one extra camera on a movable mount with a 600mm lens on it at it. Now you get a few hundred pix

Seeing how the sausage gets made makes you realize ALL the downsides and things you'd rather not have known. That doesn't mean you can think of a way to fix science. Let alone get the required funding to make an actual attempt.

For scale: The LHC has more than 11km diameter and the deepest mine we have built is 4km. Adding vertical distance is much harder than making the diameter of the circular tunnel larger.

How do you encode the difference between a method that adds and a method that multiplies two numbers in the type signature?

How is that extortionate? Using the inflation calculator of the Bank of England that is 86 pounds now or $110. Admittedly that more expensive than the current price of $24 for the paper back, but at worst that seems to be twice as expensive

If that thing had VGA-in on top of the keyboard and mouse out via USB, it would be a great tool to carry in a data center when you have to physically interact with a machine.

Sure, for booleans you can just test all combinations of input arguments. In some cases you can do the same for all possible 32 bit float or int values that you have as input. But for 64 bit integers (let alone several of them) that's

That's what? Fourteen F-35s? Shared by all of Europe. Or in other words 30 cents per European for each of 6 years. Science is much cheaper than you think. And much cheaper than not doing it.

https://status.signal.org/ says it's "up and running" but that is clearly not the case. I find that more concerning than the outage itself.

While Hertz are 1/s, there is implications between using frequencies in Hertz and rates in 1/s. Units are not just something to mechanically check, but also for communication with other humans. So connotations matter in addition

Everybody in this thread is insanely positive on height adjustable desks, but I have had height adjustable desks at different employers since 2013, and I have never used them as standing desks. They are great to get the height exactly right

How safe are an extra hour around KSFO, an hour turnaround and 45 more minutes flying after a long haul flight because an ATC wants to feel like the unquestioned king?

Should have declared a fuel emergency and fucked that controller well and good. These games that ATC in America plays with safety to improve throughput (read profits) need to end before we have 400 souls lost.
