We have a similar internal tool, and it's also called keep! Besides alerts it also tracks, and displays things such as which MongoDB server is the primary, or which ElasticSearch node is the controller.

I've had the same experience, unfortunately. The Fly dashboard reported everything was A-ok, but requests would time out. I had to manually dig into the fly logs to see that their proxy couldn't reach the server, and there was not

I use http://trakt.tv mostly because it scrobbles automatically (from XBMC and a bunch of other media centers) what i have seen instead of marking everything by hand.
