I've paid off my mortgage and am now more open to working on something more altruistic than selling ads for slightly less pay. The problem is I can't find any interesting without a large paycut.

I got better when two things happened. 1) Write a lot of code. Like a ton, more than anyone else on the team. 2) Get feedback from people on that code.

With the exception of Amazon, I haven't received an offer with base pay lower than 150k in a long time. I'm a mid tier SWE at best. I think people are downvoting out of jealously.

Let me clarify. The bank accepted a 7 figure wire transfer but I wasn't allowed to pay the full amount. I had to pay the leftover in person, even after I got the payoff statement.

Many big tech companies made their hiring processes more transparent. Partly because of the call for more diversity in tech. I hope colleges follow suit. Even if the formula is "Rich daddy" + "lacross".
