I want to have this debate. This might be the MOST important thing ever discussed here on HN. Let's get this SOLVED! If you look at the name, sure. But, the ENTIRE premise of MacGyver was that Richard Dean Anderson would ALWAYS come up

I never really thought it was a parody of that show. The name is similar, but did not feel like it attempted to parody it in any other way.

I LOVE MacGruber. And, I'm not afraid to be public about it. I know it is silly and the jokes are juvenile. But, he is so fully in the character for the entire movie, and it is a joy to watch.

My kids (9 yr old girl, 11 y/o girl, 13 y/o boy) said it was the best movie they have ever seen. They are not super familiar with Looney Tunes. It isn't uncommon that they would see something and immediately it becomes their

Totally agree. But, it feels like there were attempts by government to regulate and penalize bad actors. Watered down and neutered by lobbyists, of course. FINRA and Rohit Chopra and Lina Khan had some power in the last administration. But,

Steam is incredible on Linux. I'm amazed my kids can play so many games using proton on Ubuntu. So, if there are five translation layers, why not run a Linux VM using UTM and play there? Is there a technical reason that does not work?

Oh, so an M2 will support GPU usage? Can you run CoreML and unsloth models in the same way you would use them on regular MacOS? Are there benefits to using Linux/Asahi for running models on Apple hardware?

I'm not sure I understand the target user for Asahi. Is this someone that only wants to run Linux and wants to use their GPU on Linux? Seems like this is not the case, yet. Or, is this for someone that wants to dual boot and use Linux

You are saying that if you serve time in prison for a crime, as he did, then you are ineligible to naturalize, forever? If serving time in prison isn't sufficient, what else should he have done? He has a child who was born in the US. W

I basically do this, tmux via tailscale. But, I often get inspiration and want to jump into a webapp from my phone, or review. I've been playing with pi and the remote webui extension. I don't love it; it has a lot of chrome that

Does anyone have a suggestion for a harness that is good at handoff? When I say handoff, I mean: * handoff from a terminal CLI to webui (on a phone)? * handoff from one team member, to another? * handoff from one communication moda

Bieber was clearly trying to use the word "butt" here; it just does not come across in a vocal and was obviously transcribed incorrectly.

Why Boise? The press release says something about 4 people in Boise a long time ago? None of the quotes have anyone from Boise or even Idaho. Not the governor of Idaho, not a University of Idaho faculty. There are quotes from Lutnick, Cook

The sloth was returned to his owner and I did tip him. That kid is probably still prowling the Amazon (as an adult now), looking for sucker tourists like me.

Not trying to be snarky, and perhaps it wasn't well stated, but the last paragraph I said I'm concerned about identification via my writing style. If they have my emails, they would have my writing style. It doesn't have to b

About twenty years ago, I was taking a flight back from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to the US. In the middle of the night the pilot got on the loudspeaker and said "hi! Having some engine trouble, so we are landing in Manaus." Manaus i

I really tried to get through this. But sentences like this were confusing to me: In simple terms, the ocean surface anomalies are just the surface footprint of this massive subsurface warm core.

When I lived in Japan in the 90s, I was really confused why all my Japanese friends would go to these arcades and play this strange game they called Mahjong. It seemed really boring and why not play with real tiles for free? But, after watc

I think I was not using sonipic buffers correctly (I guess they are called "tabs" in the UI). I've been using them without saving the files. I have struggled to think of it as an "editor" only because of things I&#x

I love Sonic Pi. I am a terrible musician but I really enjoy finding chords for a song and then putting them into a sonic pi buffer and messing around. U2 started as a cover band, right, so maybe this is a path to becoming musical someday.

This smells like it was hallucinated by chatgpt. Perhaps AI truly is sentient now; the desire to be wanted and necessary is very human. Or, perhaps it wasn't hallucinated by chatgpt but by the PR team at openai.
