They also have code snippets and Application Creation wizards. I think the later will be useful what with the api still being unstable(pmi pkg disappearing between 1.0 to 1.5 etc).

Guy Kawasaki used to write good articles based on insight gleamed from his personal experience. But these days he seems to be more about just generating some content to get eye balls so that he can push alltop. He is losing credibility fast

I am running a rails app with 100,000 pages views/month with a 86MB slice(not at slicehost though) with <2sec response times. The pages are pretty heavy dynamic pages.

Another take on 'copy' is to take an idea that worked in one market and do it another market with appropriate localizations applied. Say a successful product in US done right for India.

If you are using Sphinx on a rails project, I strong recommend Thinking Sphinx( http://freelancing-god.github.com/ts/en/ ). We used to use Ultra sphinx plugin, but thinking sphinx is more flexible.

I think for developers the advice of 'work your connections to get a job' is highly over rated. In my 15 years of experience not even a single job I got is based on connections.

I also liked the specific action items. Like which exact css selector is inefficient. Also liked it called out the exact images that could do with compression, what % can be gained and even a sample compressed image!

Go full time on your idea. Or at least make some commitment so that there is a monthly burn(say a hosted server or a github account at the minimum). Nothing like pressure to keep one focused. This is from my own experience.

FAQ is not the first thing I look for in a site. To me, in context hints and help links are more useful. Personally, I would focus more on these. I do check the faq, if all else fails to explain.

Timing is another thing. When we tried to get press for a site targeted at moms, we had a lot of luck approaching news papers, tv shows and blogs around, surprise!, women's day and mother's day.
