The main issue with powershell is its name. It would have been better named powerscript. It’s not really a shell but a much more powerful script language along the lines of Perl or PHP.

Yup, the pause loading HIMEM.SYS was always distinctive. The blur of clicks loading Windows also got faster when switching from the loading screen to the desktop and startup items.

It’s possible our ears never evolved to handle that. Instead we evolved to move around, build shelters, protect our ears etc. and generally take defensive measures against excessively loud environments.
