At the beginning of 2018 I was in a pretty bad state in many ways. One of which was my health. I did a lot to turn it around, including running regularly, and a better diet. I lost a lot of weight. But what's more amazing in the long t

I feel this strongly. I've been a software contractor for the last ~18 months. I do it because it affords me the ability to spend my time exactly how I want to, mostly reading and researching. But I also have reduced my contracting tim

It looks like this twitter account is trying to do just that https://twitter.com/thetokenanalyst/status/11699297386071244... I am not an expert and this is a very rough estimate, but this data[0] shows 7-day rolli

I'm not expanding the axioms, I'm comparing the paradoxical nature of mathematics to other systems. I'm not saying that reality is encompassed in the theorem because "mathematics", I'm positing that if mathemat

Yes, I understand that, and am well aware of Godel's position on its application. Hence my statement that I extrapolate it further than intended. My extrapolation is influenced by the Curry-Howard isomorphism, equating computer program

Like monads, I think the issue comes from "frames" of thinking. You cannot understand monads in terms of functions as is understood in most languages. You also can't understand it in terms of its common uses like I/O. Ye

I think going through The Little Schemer by Daniel Friedman and Matthias Felleisen helped me a lot. It builds up your knowledge in a conversational way to achieve understanding of quite complex ideas in simple terms. In that case, it builds

This, alongside the second incompleteness theorem, showed me that any formal system cannot prove itself, and any system deemed "consistent" can only be considered as such from outside that system. A great way that I visualize it (

I'm 100 or so pages in to this now. What a book! I'm sure this will be a long time classic for me.

This theorem actually changed my life. Once it clicked for me it shifted my understanding of reality significantly.

I'm nearly the same! I've found that I can't stick to a single book at one time--when I'm jogging, I don't want to think about technical things, I want to think of big picture ideas. When I'm driving a distance

Yeah, I agree. Up until the internet, getting information out there required resources and/or a platform to speak from, be it the pulpit, a newspaper, etc. If you had something to say, you had to go through such great effort to say it.

Wouldn't that be more like public roads? You couldn't decide that Fords are not allowed on a road, just because of the brand, but Ford is perfectly within their rights to not sell a car to somebody, just as Cloudflare and Voxility

I’ll second this. Pi-Hole was very easy to set up and gives me some good peace of mind. Love seeing query trends too.
