The main problem is that AOT C# is not as mature on platforms other than Windows, if that. So, to me, Hejlsberg's choice sounds pretty logical. After, why go ? why not...

Yes, It reminds me when Java has been released for the first time. The mantra was : "Yes, pretty slow but don't panic, in a couple of months better hardware will fix that" !!

Yes it is true, but in terms of CPU, there is an issue too... (Lots of sub-processes by apps, means higher context switching, etc.) And If I need 32GB and 16-CPU to run 5 or 6 apps... Asimov was right after all :)

Yes, that's what I've done... (and not only it) It is just to illustrate the fact that Electron, after all, might be a real problem for native app.

You're right, Electron app. are ok... If there is only one in RAM ! On my 8 GB computer, I used to run in the same time : - VsCode (700 MB) - Teams (600 MB), - PostMan (350 MB !? WTF) - WhatsApp (consumes almost 600 MB after 1 ho

I agree, because I've seen that in my previous jobs... Programmers used to say that the GC and its fuc*#=+ STW was a pure mess, but under the hood, they didn't realize (accept ?) in fact the code WAS the mess. Don't (always)
