I think the 18 is counting 16 Epiphany cores plus 2 cores on the Zynq. The 64 is referring to a 64 core Epiphany chip that has only been made in prototype quantities, so far as I know.

I do business with verbal deals constantly in the US. I also do deals with written contracts, but in my experience, the cost to enforce a written contract through legal avenues means that they're not useful for most of my work.

Seems like if you rounded up to integer values of animals, the maintenance of the animals could be even cheaper, especially with the need for a freezer obviated. For integers >= 2, the animals may even display non-zero growth rates.
