because they can. because of a monopoly. you can accept alternative payments like cryptocurrency or venmo or something, but let's face it, most customers prefer to pay with a credit card. that's how monopolies work.

The only chance this would work is if your platform is free to use. An example of this would be craigslist. I've never seen a pay-to-use platform ask buyer and sellers to handle payment.
