1) Well I started learning when I was 28. Self employed as a web dev now 2) Frontend dev that knows Javascript 3) Javascript. Regardless of whatever serverside stack you decide to further pursue, every one of them still has to interact with

In addition to what everyone else has mentioned, the amount of libraries written for Django is staggering. You almost never need to roll your own app -- someone has already done it! Also, geodjango.

I think the best way to learn anything is by doing. So a great place to start is djangoproject. Following which, I recommend trying to build from scratch simple webapps that uses 3rd party api's like Twitter or Flickr. The goto book is htt
