Emacs is a relic, it can take weeks of configuring to get it anywhere near as productive as something like VS Code or Jetbrains IDEs. If you want to procrastinate for a few months it's the perfect tool.

Does your user run your software with stuff mocked out? The reason for testing is getting ahead of issues before the user finds them.

I've seen code bases where a lot of the tests are actually testing the underlying framework's code (i.e. dotnet framework) after they mocked out all the dependent services. In my mind unit tests are a waste of time except for test

They could have just used different Java/Python libraries and changed the architecture for the same result. The choice of a Programming Language alone has minimal impact on performance at that scale.

Until you can charge from empty to full in under a few mins and get 700+ real range miles EV's will remain a niche product. It's just not worth the hassle of have to plug your car in any chance you get like an old iphone. 2030 is

Houses last for centuries, a few thousand new builds in Cali is not going to make the slightest difference. I think EV will remain a niche (<15%) until they can charge as quickly as filling a tank and until their (real) range is 700+ mi

Seems like a pain, having to top your car up all the time like an old phone. Prefer one 5 min stop a fortnight to fill the tank up, until an EV can do similar they will remain a niche product.

HN was down for hours, no website hosted properly using cloud providers is down for more than a few minutes a year. It's trivial to set up multiple providers, multiple regions. Rather than having a few servers with some admin guy swapp

You really need to use canary deployments/feature flags with this style. i.e. release to production but only for a group of users or be able to turn a feature off without another deployment.

It's a Linux project aimed at being a Linux OS to compete with MacOs. As per usual with the linux community it's "if you want it roll your own". That's why the year of the Linux desktop will never come.
