I find that the site has definitely spread apart in it's values. And the real problem is as "undesireables" flood in, the people who are truer to the original culture get disgusted and back away. As a personal (though perhaps not universal)

If we had sufficient numbers, sure, that'd be a great way to go. But as it is with almost no one caring\learning about technical\political issues like those involved in this.... I just can't see it working. The problem isn't the technology.

I would prefer Python's competition come from something based on a better and presumably newer paradigm, rather than an old tired mess of a language... maybe Perl 5 isn't that, but it sure looks like it to an outsider!

This rant comes from a narrow view point, but I wonder how much Python is going to slip on maintaining things... I've already been using the older Python 2.5 just for PIL (Python Imaging Library) to do pixel by pixel operations on images...

I find that you should also be wary of people who accept others regardless of their shady behavior. Usually it indicates they are just using everyone around them, as they don't care about moral values.
