Apple doesn’t allow other apps to use Safari extensions (edit: on iOS or iPadOS) Orion offers custom support for WebExtensions but it’s basically requiring them to manually check and port WebExtensions to work well with WebKit, one by one.

Meta’s internal “you’ve been here longer than X% of the company” metric does not give credit to total tenure (ie. boomerangs), so IMO it’s highly misleading as a measure of attrition.

Gmail on iOS uses SFSafariViewController, which runs in a separate process from Gmail.app and can’t be interacted with, unlike WKWebview. My guess is that they ran metrics and decided that keeping users in the Gmail app window led to longer

If the list of hashed URLs is relatively static, what’s to prevent Apple from caching this information on their own CDN? If this not possible in China due to the Great Firewall, at least it could be done in other areas. Unless it’s against
