Look at the kid in a costume. The shoulders of ChatGPT’s output are just wrong. Sure, the kid looks prettier, stronger with a wider upper body, closer to society’s ideal of a child. But it’s not him. If you put that child in a suit, he’d st

Realtime stuff. Audio, video etc, games. Apps with a large user library (like the Photos app) that should work offline.

Work that doesn’t have a personal brand involved is basically dead. Arbitrary voice acting? Dead. It’s brutal for these people. The creative industry was always hard, but this is just plain brutal.

Use Tor to proxy. Every time you get a connection error, send a SIGHUP to the Tor daemon, which will tell the Tor daemon to establish a new connection, thereby giving you a new IP. You may not get as good results as a residential proxy, but

If you want to distribute mobile apps and reach all users - something that is required for any kind or collaborative app - you MUST support iPhone in the western world. In fact, it’s often iPhone first, Android second. And on the iPhone, yo

There’s still friction, it simply moved to another stage, and as such, people will need new learning and feedback mechanisms to understand what did/didn’t work.

I think you’re mistaking my comment as an endorsement of his opinions. I’m coming from a different angle. I grew up in Germany, and we banned any Nazi content - rightfully so! - to make sure that shit isn’t spread again. But the political l

Rails no longer wraps CSS or JS. And it can benefit from ORMs, because it means less tokens. The biggest advantage of Rails is convention over configuration. Standardisation means AI is trained on lots of standardised codebases. So that sti

I read the original post DHH links to. I don’t think it warrants the kind of hate he gets. DHH has always been very outspoken in his opinions. That’s why he bashed Heroku so badly when he introduced Kamal. It’s what makes Rails such a clear

May I ask where in Germany you live? It’s a fairly diverse country and your location would help for context.

But then the solution is to just ignore these musicians. But if you do find that they made something valuable that you can’t find elsewhere, then you should compensate them for that. Because yes, it is a lot of work.

AWS / GCP can invoice with EU reverse charge so I don’t even pay VAT. With Hetzner I have to claim it back at the end of the year. Hetzner is just way cheaper and pricing is more predictable. I don’t need any advanced cloud offerings.
