"Car wash mode" sounds like such a crazy hack. They probably realized bad things would happen after a test, and the fix was probably a project-killing overhaul, so they patched it somehow. Just incredible.

One thing I’ve learned in all my years is that it’s ok to not be a zealot. You don’t need to pick a side. We should look at these things on a case by case basis. Sweeping dismissal of an approach discards the reasons behind such actions.
