I use a lot of Gmail, with one Yahoo Mail, but I use Gmail as more of a client for my server; all email is sent and received through my server. Also, why aren't self-hosted options like Horde and Roundcube in this poll?

iPod touch for writing things down on the go, but text files or drawings on my laptop when I'm using it. Everything gets synced back from my iPod, so I always have my ideas in a searchable form on my laptop.

Somewhat valid points... but for the most part not. And although I'll probably be shot down for this: The iPhone OS's method of displaying the last masked character briefly before masking it is probably the best way to handle masking.

This is just someone who has opted to keep their profile out of search listings. If you aren't friends with them, or your friend isn't a friend of theirs, it just redirects you back to the homepage.

Excellent article. Freemium is much better for both consumers and producers: Consumers avoid annoying ads, and they get something they don't mind paying for (one reason being that it costs so little). Producers just win all around. :)

Converting to a freemium model is the best way to do it. Users don't pay for something after they've already been receiving it for free.
