I did that when I was using a MacBook at my old job and it helped but the problem was that it was too easy to accidentally push the buttons on the touchbar by mistake.

I'd say so. If you look at the sample Portal 2 Bindings [1] the labels on the bottom seem to pointing underneath the controller and in the disassembly image [2] there seems to be another button-looking piece in front of the bottom port

Worked fine on mine: Safari 4.0.1, Mac OS 10.5.7 I compared it to Firefox 3.5 and it was identical.
