Negative comments being quickly bubbled up to the top is an HN thing. Most tech folks I know are the idealist type.

Some of the negative comments here exemplify why the mainstream is starting to hate on the "tech elitist" types in the same way FinanceBros were viewed negatively in the '90s and '00s.

I would add differences in domestic consumers preferences. Americans are now addicted to cheap-quality goods. I passed through the gift shop inside Empire Sate Building in NY yesterday and 98% of the gifts are asian imported plastic trinket
