Even if he did brute force it, he did the same thing with Go and it was much faster. So by comparison Ruby is slow and his conclusion is sound. Yes he could have optimized it, but that just means he could of optimized the Go solution too.

I tend to think the timing is just a coincidence. They also upgraded CPU and bandwidth over the last month and there were rumors of upgraded RAM for a while too.

The biggest issue I see would be updating the block chain for the wallet between uses. Seems like it takes longer and longer to update. Moved my wallet to a new computer last night and it's been going for the last 5 hours.

At first it felt significantly worse for me, but as I started using it there is no significant difference. Webkit's is prettier and I like the being able to refresh to clear it though.
