The US founders also did not trust the general population which is why the electoral college was used to elect the president. Being young I could not understand why when I first read about it. I understand now why, the masses can be quite s

Gov gone crazy is not as unlikely as you think. It may only seem that way because of our short lifespan.

Seems unfair to say that he only won because there was a bug. You could equally say that the player lost because a bug in his brain caused him to not see the proper move. Stress will cause a lot of players to make mistakes, which in my mind

I think it was pretty obvious nobody was "salivating",etc. but that rather it is a way of saying how excited they are about studying this new phenomenom. They are just metaphors, I see nothing wrong with that. They are used all th

Emotions are not a requirement for strong AI. I frankly would not waste any time with them. I just need an AI that can learn and solve problems at the human level. I'm not naive enough to think that it can be solved in a short time. I

Evolution has already proven that strong AI is possible. It is up to us to discover how. It is only a matter of time.

To each their own. While impressive I do not find it inspiring. Instead, working on strong AI is, in my mind, the ultimate challenge. Far more amazing by any measure than anything we have acomplished so far.
