Hard disagree on "Good enough", most things are mediocre at best. Despite the massive AI boom I can at best count on one hand "fresh" products made with AI that are meaningful in day-to-day usage. Not to mention most of them seem to be targeting AI-space itself instead of bridging some actual business use case. Just look at all the products on ShowHN, you can "tell" a vibed product in seconds.
- satvikpendem 1mo agoMediocre is good enough, that's what it means.
- davidivadavid 1mo agoMediocre literally means middling, which may or may not be good enough depending on requirements.
- jatora 1mo agoYou are using countless products that are built or have become maintained by AI without realizing it apparently.
- Krei-se 1mo agoName them. Just 2! Any example would be enough. Or well better than 0 and just a claim.
- hexedpackets 1mo agoWe can only guess what products you use, but I'll take a stab by naming some big ones: Spotify - https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/12/spotify-says-its-best-developers-havent-written-a-line-of-code-since-december-thanks-to-ai/ https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/12/spotify-says-its-best-deve... - jatora 1mo agoBeyond this i don't think it's wild to assume that somewhere between 70 and 90% of all software has heavy AI involvement. It would just be foolish not to
- Krei-se 1mo agoYou can even assume 120% is.
- Krei-se 1mo agoThese are grown and stable platforms now getting additions with the help of AI (which is not wrong) but they are not built by one. Its like saying you live in a 3D printed home because you added a 3D printed decoration + the house is structurally stable == its a stable 3D printed house.
- satvikpendem 1mo agoThis is goal post moving; partially built still means built.
- Krei-se 1mo agoYours a partially smart take for sure.
- satvikpendem 1mo agoIt is, hence why it's right.
- kuschku 1mo agoI do notice and realize, and I've gotten to the point where I had to fork and patch most of them to fix the shitty AI generated code. It's so bad, and so everywhere, that I'm genuinely considering switching to a pre-AI stable distro and waiting 10 years for the AI hyped to be over before updating any piece of software ever again.
- jatora 1mo agoThis simply isn't true. You're typing on a website that uses it...literally right now. You use countless things that you aren't forking.
- NothingAboutAny 1mo agoI'd believe it, my spotify breaks all the time now and I seem to remember them announcing none of their devs code anymore. not 10 seconds ago I had to force close it to get it to stop playing music on my phone.
- camdenreslink 1mo agoI have had to force quit Spotify a couple times recently because it was using many GB of memory to the point where it was unresponsive.
- scotty79 1mo agoIf you are waiting for someone else to make a good product for you with AI, you are missing out. The best AI products have userbase of one.
- notashelf 1mo agoI think you agree with what is in the essence of the post, but has been worded poorly. I do agree that most things are mediocre at best. Hell, I'd argue that most of my comments on everyday observations are negative. Ranging from "this sucks :/" to "holy fuck". They are, however, "good enough" for some and despite how clever I must to notice how much something sucks, that does nothing to the fact that it will receive adoption. Turns out I'm not clever. Huh. In hindsight, I have worded this rather poorly and let some phrases do a lot of heavily lifting for me in the post. Ultimately, I agree with you. Knowing, for this instance, is not half the battle.
- aprdm 1mo agoHow would you count them or even know if they were made with AI or not ? Such nonsense
