Is this the start of the end of TikTok?
- keepquestioning 4y agoYes. No doubt the much vaunted algorithm will make their way to competitors, through digital fencers.
- altdataseller 4y agoThe algorithm is almost useless without the vast number of creators they have who are interested in creating mostly for tiktok
- krapp 4y agoThe algorithmic black market. The only place to get the really primo data structures.
- bognition 4y agoLol no. The company makes billions of dollars and is funded by the Chinese government. TikTok is here to stay
- Laaas 4y agoIt's only the source code. Who cares?
- altdataseller 4y agoYeah if this was user data, different story. They should just open source the entire backend code.
- pcbro141 4y agoThis looks like user data: https://twitter.com/AggressiveCurl/status/1566173696842256384 https://twitter.com/AggressiveCurl/status/156617369684225638...
- tgsovlerkhgsel 4y agoIf it proves wrongdoing/illegal data collection or government-sponsored manipulation, it might be the trigger for widespread bans.
- mtmail 4y agoNintento, Mercedes, MS Windows source got leaked, those companies still exist https://www.argon.io/blog/big-source-code-leaks/ https://www.argon.io/blog/big-source-code-leaks/
- akmarinov 4y agoNah, TikTok is eating Instagram. They’re not going anywhere but up
- firecall 4y agoAgreed. Instagram is dreadful right now. Every third post in as an Ad. The content being posted is all spammy ads. No one that I know IRL posts anything at all anymore. It's all dark social messaging and private shared iOS Photos albums!
- rvz 4y agoIt is the beginning of the end. Despite the denial here. Billion dollar fines and lawsuit of user data incoming.
- stjohnswarts 4y agoThe only real existential threat TikTok faces (in the US) is the US government. I think as we get closer and closer to war (either cold or hot) with the Chinese that services like alibaba and tiktok won't stand up to scrutiny and be blanket banned. It's pretty clear that the CCP wholly controls them and is hoovering up the data on American citizens. I think the only reason it's on the back burner right now is all the Trump stuff stealing the headlines.
