- shmoe 5y agoYes they do.. they just have the decryption key.
- ohCh6zos 5y agoThey only offer encryption with a known compromised key. How is that useful?
- shmoe 5y agoIt isn't.. but here in reality they're forced to respond to requests by law enforcement for things such as CSAM -- this is the problem they were trying to solve with the on-device scanning. The plan was this would allow for backups they would not have a key to, and thus be unable to respond to law enforcement.
- pseudalopex 5y agoHere in reality other companies have end to end encryption.
- shmoe 5y agoDo they? Consumer level? Or are you able to view your files in the cloud which inherently implies they have that key.
