They are talking about Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC), not actually AutoPilot as most people think would be the case.
I love our Tesla, but the TACC is not that great, the most annoying part is when passing cars on the freeway it sometimes all of a sudden it thinks the car next to me that I'm passing is in the same lane, and then phantom brakes while trying to pass. It is disappointing.

But I don't think it is designed to brake that hard no matter what.
- jacquesm 5y agoI had a late model Mercedes with radar and automatic emergency braking. After it tried to kill me twice I sold it. The dealer checked the system and pronounced it A-ok, which was enough reason for me to get rid of the car if it had been pronounced broken I could have lived with it. But if that's the kind of quality they ship then I don't want to be responsible for it.
- argonaut 5y agoThat makes it even more concerning, because TACC is a subset of Autopilot (it's Autopilot without autosteer), and it's the easier subset (many modern cars have their own versions of TACC and they work very well, speaking from personal experience).
