They have enough money to give building the first ever BFR a shot. If it turns out good and the reusability works, they can do a lot of contracts with it, like servicing ISS, and launching a new big space telescope. From there on the advant

I think what he is trying to say is, that developers will be useless dead weight in this kind of post apocalyptic scenario. Everybody will be out of there normal day jobs, but a lot of people can contribute to survival with their skillset.

A bit sensational to call a reference to an unknown product that's likely going to be unveiled in 2 days, as well as some minor feature like Animojis, a major leak. This is what suffering a major leak looks like: http://gizm

OSX is still pretty great. After Snow Leopard, for a while it looked like OSX is gonna turn into "iOS Desktop Edition", starting with Lion. But that never really happened, Sierra is a very nice OS, and High Sierra is basically the

Good links, thanks. At WWDC Apple was saying that Chinese, Japanese & Korean localisations for iOS Apps are often overlooked, and their data shows they should be the first ones to be added after English, even before localising for the m

It's not that bad. The only thing Google/FB/Twitter gets to know is that a user Y is using app X. Nothing more, and not detailed usage stats, just the basic fact. For that they handle the complete user registration, recovery

I've seen tons of people using iPod touches as dev devices. Much cheaper having multiple iPod touches running older iOS, or iOS betas, then having that many iPhones.

Probably a lot less volume being sold on ultra wide monitor panels. Therefore higher price.

That would be absolute madness. Can you imaging Apple pushing a 137MB file to all active iOS devices over cellular? I'm sure the carriers would appreciate :)

I've been using LibGDX for a small little thing, and honestly can't recommend it. I had the app for a few years, and whenever I wanted to update things after a few months, so many things would just break. Be it the build-system, t

I wonder if this will have an effect on how kids get into programming. Back when I was a kid we had MS-DOS, my primary motivation was to install and play games, but there was this easy built-in pathway of: Hey, you can do a lot more with th

You can always build your own EmuBox, that does the same job and much more. For people who can't do that, I recommend looking into it, there are pre-build options, which require less effort to get running. Or "hire" a friend

The thing is having your app be 200 MB is not actually a big issue in the real world. So why do space optimization? Time is limited and there's always other things to be worked on.

Just collected the black coins in 1-1, and some in 1-2. The black coins seem to be what this game really is about, and damn does it a good job with it. Actually amazed at what it does with just a 1-button input method. Sad to see so many pe

Of course Apple wants to sell MacBooks to developers, and I'm sure a lot of devs will happily buy it. Because many of the flaws and issues, that are notoriously being pointed out on HN/Reddit, don't really apply to the indivi

I think at this point the mobile hard- and software industry is simply much further developed and it's harder for everyone to innovate, not just for Apple. We can't expect that magic of 2007 to come back on a year to year basis. T

It's the first time we get a new interaction idiom since 2007 really. I think it will bring great changes and improvements to mobile app UIs. Adaption gonna take a while though, 2-3 years for it to be considered standard on iOS, anothe
