This reminds of the many recipes that convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius (and vice versa for that matter) and don't round off the numbers properly. I'm not setting my oven to 176 degrees Celsius even if I could.

The same could be said for some NIH tool. Bringing people up to speed on in-house tools can be a major hassle. Never mind the fact that popular tools like Ansible are battle-tested and most likely has more documentations and tutorials.

I'd say that network knowledge is a key part of the Ops part of DevOps (especially when talking about cloud engineering). But that is what you get with great buzzwords like DevOps.
