I can see it being useful for exactly that sort of thing. I've approximated hexagonal grids in spreadsheets by making each cell a square and then merging adjacent squares, alternating by row: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][

IANAL, but wouldn't websites like bash.org be prior art for a “click a button to vote up a story” functionality? I'd be interested to see the exact wording, if anyone can find a link to the patent in question.

It could be an interesting problem to write a piece of code that performs one task when run as a Lisp program and another when run as Parenthetic. Or the same task even.
