I wonder how many lines of code they ended up with afterward, although admittedly lines of code is a pretty silly metric. I think it is useful in orders of magnitude when describing the size of a project, 100 lines, 1,000 lines, 10,000 line

It's cool, and this is a nearly useless comment, but the logo looks to much like an alien out of a Whitley Strieber "non-fiction" story. A little creepy I'm saying. Gitlab needs some branding design love.

I think it goes both ways. Younger engineers need to not avoid hiring old people because of fear of being a culture misfit and older engineers need to stop being self-conscious of their age all the time. Both can be a little bit more flexib

For what it's worth, if you have Ghostery installed you cannot see the comments. The intent is to block tracking but the added benefit of not seeing comments is a nice plus.

The biggest performance issues I think that some people run into with Go involve reflection which seems to be slow. Something that does a lot of JSON parsing for example maybe could be much slower in Go than in Java, Python or JavaScript I

As bad as it may seem I've found that saying incorrect things results in more learning than staying quiet so I often say incorrect things but things I think are true. I'm embarrassed when I'm wrong but I always learn from it.

I wonder if tax credits on mortgage payment interests is a contributing blocker to tax reform. If they got rid of it, buying and owning a house would be so much more expensive. It would make renting more worth it.

My experience is definitely anecdotal. I probably misspoke, my problem is with the reporting of the studies, not the science itself.
