The goal is to be distro-agnostic, but I find that Flatpak and Snap both add more bloat than is worth it. Either just use distro packages, or, if you really want cross-platform, get an AppImage and be done with it.

Yeah, I like the idea of having a Meta/Command key for common GUI shortcuts, rather than reassigning Control key shortcuts like Windows does.

I really like the idea of Étoilé, but a lot of the docs are outdated because of the death of Gna!, and right now the focus is more on the CoreObject framework rather than the UI.

That's less of macOS itself and more how it fares on Intel hardware. My M1 Pro hasn't really had that.

Plus, both Corellium and Asahi Linux are porting Linux to the M1 MacBooks. I have Ubuntu installed in a separate partition and boot into it occasionally. The main issues right now are audio and graphics support.

I'd recommend to disable iCloud for the offending apps in System Preferences -> Apple ID -> iCloud. I like macOS, but I don't like iCloud at all.

Exactly why I prefer Seaglass over Element for Matrix chat, even though Seaglass hasn't been updated in a while. Same with Telegram Desktop and Telegram for macOS.

Then there's Android One, but that is an absolute disaster at this point, with unoptimized software and updates that brick phones. Google themselves haven't been doing too good on software reliability this year; just look at Andro

Telegram is surprisingly good. My entry point to the Telegram rabbit hole was the Android development community, and I've found quite a few people who are willing to discuss stuff. We also have a lot of fun.

I remember at one point the moderators turned r/linux into a place where you could only post Linux news. That's when I left the subreddit, and I haven't really gone back since.

Brave does seem like a nice option. I used it a while back but haven't really touched it since. I also like the Tor integration. I just really kind of hate the iconography.

I've been looking at all the options and it looks like Firefox really is my best bet. I use Tor Browser for private browsing when I need to, anyway, so I don't see any other alternative that's good enough.

Payments on Google Play require password or biometric authentication for completion. It's a very weird design inconsistency, since the login prompt looks nothing like a typical Google login prompt.

For me, the issue with forums is not being able to discover them that easily. I'm still in my teens and I simply haven't been able to find forums as easily as I have been able to find people on platforms like Twitter or Telegram.

The funny part is that when I tried the latest version on Chrome on Android 11 back in September, whenever I clicked on an AMP link, it would think Google's AMP domain was a phishing site.
