Your examples are cases in which you know what the bill is going to be before placing your order. With LLMs, you're paying per output token, not per request, yet you don't get all the tokens.

I used my $20 welcome credit and the Orchestrator mode to generate a JUCE tutorial with kilocode.ai, hopefully I can use it as a base for teaching myself to code audio plugins.

The purpose of a PhD is to certify that you're able to do independent research. Many researchers retrain (or just add a research interest) in adjacent fields during their postdocs or later. At that point it's just research.

Ugaritic certainly didn't remain readable and it was alphabetic. The only reason alphabetic systems remained readable is because they remained in use.
