This boggles me as well, wordpress has a huge install base and them making a sanctioned plugin for these ads would give a much wider audience to advertisers. The only reason I can possibly see wordpress.com sites as the reason for the roll

Perhaps if you were able to leverage it into performing tasks that the specific data structure excels at where other things don't. I'm kind of thinking along the lines of google's BigTable and Mapreduce but that isn't exactly the same.

Apparently everything on there is fake. I clicked checkout after looking around and fake adding things to cart and nothing happened. I'm also unlikely to use facebook to login to a site to buy things.
