I think an interesting aspect is that on normal aircraft fuel tanks have to be near the center of lift to maintain weight and balance as fuel is burned off. When using batteries, this is not really a concern, and I would think might lead to

My grandfather had one of these, though gas powered. It may have been the Ford model, cannot remember, though his was built I believe in the late 40s / early 50s. One story that still makes me laugh, he couldn't start it one day,

100% Agree. Too many corporate boards are more interested in a stock analysts short term opinion than their own companies long term health. There's a reason that SpaceX has re-usable rockets, and Lockheed Martin and Boeing do not.
