As an oldster who used to do weekly century rides and lost that ability due to nerve damage in my foot (thanks to decades of wearing pointy Italian riding shoes), I’d love it if we could focus on simply enforcing laws that exist rather than

On the Song Exploder podcast, Take on Me episode, the artist talks about the producer saying that a male falsetto was a “make this song a hit” button…

It absolutely is possible to write completely neutrally. All it takes is for the writer to be aware/honest of their biases and to have a goal of achieving a neutral perspective. Of course the goal of most writing is explicitly to not

Bah! Tab “hoarding” is part of my workflow and it works great with the right tooling in place: FF with sidebury, containers, and suspender extensions. Panels for 8 high level topics with a set of 10-20 pinned tabs for each and I can see ~60

While the UI designers are rearranging deck chairs, the UX is totally failing to love up to the promise of an ecosystem. Cross system cut n paste is a neat trick, but I just want timers and alarms to actually work as expected. I shouldn’t b

I am befuddled. How do are you hearing Portishead (and DCD is even more bizarre)? I hear a touch of Beach House on older releases when there are vocals. But yeah, agree that it is a good addition to my library. Stereolab still hasn’t clicke

I looked at the git page for sponsor block TV, but it’s super confusing. It’s talking about installing python and docker. You can’t do that stuff on an Apple TV right??

Why do you want a megacorp to tell you what to listen to!?? There are a million ways to do discovery where some enshitified corp isn’t incentivized to push something at you.

Interesting read, but I was surprised that the author didn’t discuss the dynamics of the interplay between dissonance and consonance. What makes consonance so satisfying is the juxtaposition against dissonance. Maybe it didn’t come up becau

This looks very interesting and I appreciate the pricing model and lack of cloud. It wasn’t clear from the site, but is there a check all moves prior to execution function? Undo?

I know we shouldn’t be discussing website design, but using light grey font on a white background is not only ugly, it is basically illegible for anyone with oldster eyes.

Thanks to this post, I checked my ultrasonic filled with tap water. With it running all night in a bedroom with an open door, morning pm2.5 readings are ~30 and the meter is in the kitchen.

Where are the AR driving glasses that automatically dim oncoming headlights (and alert the driver to possible road hazards, and…)? Seems to me that all of this tech to create autonomous driving could be also used to augment human driving.
