Sentry isn’t really a full on observability platform. It’s for error reporting only (that is annotated with traces and logs). It turns out that for most projects, this is sufficient. Can’t comment on the vendor lock-in part.

Obsidian has been really positive for me. It has paid dividends for years — I look up notes I made years ago pretty regularly. I highly recommend it. I used Anki on and of with benefits but without enough discipline. Good thing with Obsidia
