    I’m a product manager and I use the concepts to read and understand new algos, research papers, etc. you’re right that you won’t be calculating (that builds problem solving) but grasping the principles will help you proceed to more advanced

    I really like the way the this letter is crafted. It's sensitive to the founders, and is upfront about the reality: there are more promising groups than available spots. I'm struck not only by YC's admission that they will invariably miss
