Sadly so many universities are bloated with administrators. Part of the reason the costs are so high. Then they hire adjunct professors who make about as much as a waiter at a good restaurant does. I don't know if TU uses adjuncts but

Why not set the A record for the external DNS server to something like 1.1.1.1 and the internal DNS server has the correct IP address (or a view on the same DNS Server). This way you won’t leak internal IP addresses to the Internet.
