If authentication is cookie-based, you can use a Session object in python requests: http://docs.python-requests.org/en/master/user/advanced/#ses... . If it uses http basic auth, it's even easier:

I'm not 100%, but I think this has to do with a Hangouts setting: "Show when you were last active". If that is unchecked, it means that some users (some clients?) will always show you as offline.

Hmm. Big O already encompasses "at worst". Theta is the notation for a single case, be it the worst case, the best case, one run of a randomized algo, etc. At least that is my understanding.
