There is no other way though. Climate change is not a technical problem, it's political. We've had the tech to fix climate change for long time, we know how to do it, that part is quite easy and obvious, we are just not doing it.

Non-commercial is not open-source, because if the original copyright holder stops maintaining it, nobody else can continue (or has to work like a slave for free). Open-source is about what happens if the original author stops working on it.
