   But even then the training to "performance" ratio is not even close (and for good reason) for developers vs athletes/musicians.

   Maybe. But test case reduction for compiler bugs is absolutely not a basic debugging skill for just "anyone".

   Does numpy's implementation actually use multithreading? If not, then the comparison is not fair.
