    An approach I'd like to try is allowing the template designer to expose a certain amount of grid changing freedom. I'd also like to experiment with content types that have a render method parameterised by width (and possibly height).

    Maybe have some filtering by country visible on the home page. It took me a while to figure out you actually had British beers in your database. Also, I realise you're a ruby programmer but you should really consider including Python IPA h

    I'd love to see some of the code behind these maps. Are they rendered with mapnik? How practical would it be to make some of them live and interactive? Especially now we have vector graphics in the browser.

    Thanks - that does sound like a big advantage of the deb / rpm route. Plus you don't really want your app servers spending their CPU time compiling.

    Django's conservatism in this regard doesn't really impact on application developers building on top of Django. Usual practice is to use virtualenv which allows for an up to date python on OSes with an ancient system python.
