I've recently fallen in love with Automator. Although it make have a few limitations, you can get around it by embedding AppleScript or Python. In two minutes I made a quick and dirty system wide workflow to download the selected URL.

OS X has dead simple automatic backup built in. In fact, whenever you plug in a compatible hard drive, Time Machine will prompt you to enable. Apple has already done everything they should.

Gestures are keyboard shortcuts for the mouse/trackpad. The thing about Mac is that none of these gestures are actually needed for the OS. Pretty much every gesture has a corresponding Dock item to launch it as well. Gestures are an extra.

Just out of curiosity, what is making you move towards Linux? The huge appeal of OS X to me is, as someone said on here recently, it's basically *BSD with a fancy window manager and 1-to-1 hardware/software integration.
