They decided to up their price per user by a significant amount not too long ago... our self-hosted instance suddenly became more expensive than Slack but with an obviously not nearly as polished product as Slack. So we moved over to Zulip

Not everyone lives in the US and/or an English-speaking country. I can't find shit with DDG and the experience is like using Google from 20 years ago when it didn't have any of its bells and whistles.

We use it at work. We first switched over to Mattermost, then to Zulip. Mattermost seemed like a clone of Slack and we were initially "satisfied", but didn't see it get improved that much nor noticed any attempts of it trying
