I feel out of the HN clones, designer news is the best because it didn't copy HN. Love to see better design on boredbanker. Also, is it illegal to copy the HN design?

We raised money from Kima after our incubator. They have a fast process and understand technology well. This is much better than incubator terms, and if I had this before committing to a incubator, I would have done this instead.

The new breed of chrome apps has a lot of flaws after I tried to convert my app over: -Previous installed chrome app matches the HTML5 api, the new chrome apps has a lot of restriction where you have to totally rewrite you code in terms of

Team matters so much more than anything else. You can apply lean startup perfectly and have a team that just can't execute. I am wary of methodology driven startups vs a great team tackling a general idea/market.

Hey, this is exactly what NimbusBase ( http://nimbusbase.com ) wants to do. It's a work in progress to integrate all the services, but we got the major 2 Dropbox and Google Drive.

The only impressive example is the email one, which didn't have a lot of default components, all other examples are things easily done with other frameworks.

couldn't this be done in the first place already? I thought firebase supported html5 a long time ago. Is it the websocket part that couldn't be ported to Phonegap?

From a human perspective. Money really isn't "wasted" during the holiday season. Most of money is spend on your family as gifts anyways. As a kid, Christmas + birthdays were looked forward to because that when you got the toys you wanted fo

The design looks great. However, handwritten makes me think that you can "draw" your own message via the mouse rather than typing. I was only allowed to type.

very cool, but from a usability stand point, you should show all the questions without the collapsing. Have to click 2 times for answers is not optimal.

Sinofsky was a great tech leader and shipper of products. The people who replaced him seems weak sauce. I'm not sure if firing someone creates faster progress in an area vs. just shipping more products.

This is already possible through the public folder function on Dropbox. You can still turn it on in Dropbox if you don't have it.

Dropbox as a database is a actually great idea. It takes away scaling problems from the developer and puts the data control back to the user. I'm actually working on NimbusBase, a product that allows you to write clientside javascript appli

Awesome! Our team already applied but NYC is shut down for at least 2 days. Would have been hard to film a video if the subway is shut down and we couldn't meet up.

The boundary of html5 has been pushed far beyond this before. In this the author said most HTML5 games are pacman, etc. If you look at Bastion for the chrome store, it's a very complex game with great graphics on HTML5.

I love 3D printers, but this is the third one I've seen this week in addition to MakerBot and Form 1. I'm really not understanding what the differentiator is after seeing the video except a slight change in price.

Apple's software development seems to play a second fiddle to their hardware development a lot. This is OK in most instances since I don't buy a lot of their software, but if you fail to get the firmware and the drivers working, it's a majo
