Honestly I think it already is. A lot of people who talk about massive gains seem to forget about code review. Then in a company someone who has to review is is f*cked because that code is much more complex and takes much longer to review.

The way things work is that if the judge oversteps you appeal, but you are still bound by the ruling unless higher court overrides it. You can't just say you don't like the ruling and ignore it.

AFAIK the 8.0 release is one where Oracle breaks compatibility. So anyone considering MariaDB needs to switch before going to 8.0, otherwise switching will be much more painful.

As someone who used Internet in the 90s I don't follow. There was almost nothing encrypted. SSL/TLS was introduced for POP3/IMAP, but I don't think that was bad.
