the usual trick is to use a local_settings.py. put all of your environment-specific variables in there, and put 'from local_settings.py import *' at the end of your settings.py

If you put your email and what you're looking for in your profile, some of those people might come to you. HN is a good filter.

I believe Jon & Co. were working on DailyBooth for some time before YC (see http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=479352 ). I'm not sure if/how YC changed their focus/strategy, though.

Geocities WAS around in 1996 - but Weebly was started in 2006/2007, and they're doing quite well, business model and all. The "website builder" space is likely not saturated, and there's definitely room in business areas such as the author
