Yes, we will be releasing our product (packaged in the platform) and then allow developers to add their apps to the platform too. We are even thinking of open sourcing our app to make it easier for developers.

I think the closest thing right now is Chromecast. But I think they are focussed on screen sharing to your TV, while we want to connect all your devices.

Not surprised, it's a business and like every other business it is trying to protect its interests. The good news is now we know Google's stance, so it's upto you if you still want to get to Fiber.
