Any macOS builds out there? I would really like to have one app that can open both ePubs and pdfs. Don’t need the library feature to manage books like Books.app, just need a light and reliable reader.

SumatraPDF is great! It’s fast, but does not work well for annotations like highlighting text. I have switched to Okular, you can install it directly from the Microsoft store directly.

Can nbdev be used with other Jupyter kernels, for eg like Julia. My main issue with notebooks is putting them under version control in git. This seems like it could help with that.

For me the default colors on ubuntu were never welcoming. Changing them would be great. Hopefully with Unity 8 they choose better and warmer colors

I don't understand why Gadfly is the top repo. I always found it to be very slow and having too many dependencies. Last I remember it installs more than 20 packages as dependencies. Its also not a supported backend in Plots.jl

Wire also takes a similar approach. I think google is trying to mimic whatsapp here: A single device with end to end encryption so that your keys never leave the device.

I use google scholar alerts for people whose research I want to follow. You will get a jive email when ever people you follow publish something with links.

This is going to change with projects like snap and flatpak. Soon every app will be come bundled with its own dependencies like Windows exe's

For preexisting OSS, I think it is difficult to get a successful Kickstarter campaign because they cannot really sell something for pledges. Have there been any successful Kickstarter FOSS projects ? I think Bountysource is better here but
