It's crazy that it's slower than an Electron app! Like most HNers, I fully believe that any JavaScript is slower than native, so how can this be false for this app???

I used to be a huge dynamic languages fan, with python being my favorite language over the majority of my career. Then I worked on a large python project of ~100k LOC with a team of ten. That's when I realized that writing code faster

I support you ReflectedImage - seems like these people just don't know how great dynamic languages can be! My team has actually seen a 30x decrease in bugs, and a 50x increase in productivity ever since switching to Python.

Overnight? Sentiment has been largely changing, for my own circle around the pedo comments, but for others much sooner. It's amazing to me that people seem to be influenced by such a small group of people, and people just follow along!

I disagree. In conservative companies, it would be common to meet in person and give a firm handshake, before taking out the required documents from a briefcase. It's sad to see this tradition evaporate.
